Life Paths Extended Luck Version

I listened to the podcast The Language of Luck: Why Fortune Favors Those Who Pay Attention on my way to lunch the other day. The topic was that you can create your own luck by doing things now that open up opportunities for your future self. In short: you can actively increase your luck.

While listening, some neural paths made their way through my mind and eventually arrived at the viral post Life Paths by @waitbutwhy. The graph keeps reemerging on social media now and then. If we have the agency to create our own luck, and if we look at waitbutwhy’s Life Paths graph, then increasing our luck surface also means expanding the possible paths available to our future self.1

Testing the recently released OpenAI ChatGPT Images 2.0 model which is quite good at handling text, I made an extended version of waitbutwhy’s Life Paths graph.

  1. I seem to remember Naval Ravikant having a tweet or post on the topic of luck surface. Many others seem to think so too, judging by all the references to him when googling the phrase. But I failed to dig up the exact source.
